  •  Project learning input from project management attributes

Topic 2: Value Management Familiarisation

  •  Introduction to Value Management (VM) encompassing its definition, history, concepts, benefits and misconceptions.
  •  The process of Value Management acting as a cost cutting tool
  •  Significance of structured functional analysis during the Value Management methodology in achieving cost optimisation
  •  Potentials in the applications of Value Management as well as its challengers
  • Value Management applications and results

About the Speakers

Creating a Better Project Management for Tomorrow
Prof. Dr. Hamzah Bin Hj Abdul Rahman


Professor Dr. Hamzah Abdul Rahman is Professor and senior lecturer in the Quantity Surveying Department, University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia. He is currently the dean for the Faculty of Built Environment (UM), and has served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Development and Estate Management in charge of development policies and projects from 1996 to 2003. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST, UK), M.Sc. from University of Florida, and BSc. (Hons) from Central Missouri State University. His research interests are in Quality and Project Management in Construction. He authors many publications in international journals and conferences.

Sr Dr Mohd Mazlan Bin Haji Che Mat


Sr Dr Mohd Mazlan Bin Haji Che Mat is the Executive Chairman of MCM ASSOCIATES SDN BHD, a quantity surveying firm from year 1997 until present. He is also the president of K-Provam Sdn Bhd, a value management, value engineering and life cycle costing service provider firm from June 1999 to date. Currently, he is the Founding President of the Institute of Value Management Malaysia since year 2001. Besides having various value management publications, he was also the columnist for the Appointment Section in the New Straits Times, writing articles on Value Management in year 2002. In addition, he has been appointed as the speakers or facilitators for IKRAM, CIDB, SIRIM and other major organization in the subjects of Value Management/Value Engineering, Project Management and Financial Management.
